Over the past few months we have been ensuring that Hannah’s development within Tradewinds Engineering Ltd is a well-rounded with an understanding of the critical safety knowledge and skillsets to enable her to work on our offshore projects that are currently underway. She has been actively training in three fundamental training courses resulting in successful completion of Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET), Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW ) and the International Minimum Industry Safety Training (IMIST)

Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW )

The STCW Convention have given Hannah the opportunity to develop her knowledge and skill sets and learned the essential survival techniques, fire prevention, and firefighting skills. This included a range of practical’s that have shown a detailed plan of action and important procedures needed when traveling from land to the vessel by boat. By practicing emergency drills, Hannah presented a good understanding of the of the Basic Safety Training Module which she took further to completing her Boiset training and applied the fundamental training on understanding the safety of traveling via helicopter.

Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET)

The BOSIET training ensured she was well-prepared for the challenges that lie ahead. The safety induction session covered the unique hazards specific to offshore oil and gas installations. Hanna learned about potential risks, safety regulations, and the importance of risk reduction measures. She feels more confident about her upcoming offshore projects with practice in using an Emergency Breathing System (EBS) and practiced emergency procedures during helicopter travel. From pre-flight inspections to escaping a ditched helicopter.

International Minimum Industry Safety Training (IMIST)

Hanna has also completed her International Minimum industry Safety Training that we provide inhouse at Tradewinds Engineering. She took an hour and a half to gain this international minimum industry safety training standard. IMIST online is an interactive e-Learning training programme that works by assessing the safety knowledge of an oil and gas worker during a random sequence of assessment questions. At the end of this assessment, which is completed under time-bound conditions, the programme will automatically and dynamically assemble a unique course for each individual based on their knowledge gaps identified in the pre-assessment. Hannah was presented with this content and the relevant summative assessment questions. This process was repeated until Hannah answered all the assessment questions correctly. A 100% pass mark is required to complete the IMIST programme.

Hannah has done extremely well and we are delighted to have her onboard, well done Hannah.
